Research and investments serve the trading room's activities
Psagot's research team of analysts is the largest, skilled and qualitative in Israel, with seven research departments, consisting 80 analysts, investment managers and floor traders licensed by the Israel Securities Authority. Sell side macro and strategic research is therefore made available to Psagot’s brokerage clients.
Psagot’s macro and strategic research department tracks macroeconomic, monetary and fiscal variables in Israel and worldwide, relevant to comprehending and predicting key parameters in global capital markets around the world.
The department publishes periodical monthly reviews, in addition to regular updates that serve the group's portfolio managers, customer relations' employees, marketing, and investment advisors and financial marketers.
In addition, the sell-side research department (stocks and corporate bonds) continuously reviews and tracks companies and sectors, placing emphasis on large cap companies trading on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange.
Economic valuations and analyses are performed on companies in all sectors of the economy, the main ones being: banks, investment and holding companies, chemical, communication and insurance companies. The department's analysts are in constant contact with the CEOs and CFOs of leading companies in the economy. The department operates hand in hand with Psagot’s brokerage department providing its clients with regular reports and updates (both local and foreign institutional clients).
In addition, Psagot invests considerable resources in researching corporate bonds examining the debt repayment ability of the various issuers and the credit quality of existing and future liabilities. This assists in the reliable and independent pricing of credit risks involved in investing in corporate bonds. The department provides regular updates on the risk level and ability of the issuer to meet its commitments on repayment dates (principal, interest and linkage).
